The Pattern “Sea Water and River Cliff”
“Sea Water and River Cliff” (Hai-Shui-Jiang-Ya) pattern is a traditional Chinese pattern (pattern), which is often decorated in the dragon robes and the hem of the ancient official clothing.
In the lower end of the pattern, there lies lots of curved lines obliquely， named “water feet”, above which there are water waves with a giant rock in the middle of water, and a few clouds in the sky.
The pattern implies longevity and good fortune, often appears in porcelain, lacquerware, furniture and other traditional crafts.
“Sea Water and River Cliff” pattern is also often used in the national gifts by Chinese leaders, on behalf of China’s highest etiquette. For example, in 2014, APEC member state leaders attended the opening, wearing Chinese traditional clothing embroidered with “Sea Water and River Cliff” pattern.
